Teaching Methods

The F.R.A.N.S. Framework

Frans's signature teaching model: Focus, Read, Aim, Navigate, Stroke. Every lesson builds one layer at a time, ensuring the student internalises each step before moving to the next.

Ghost Ball Visualisation

Students learn to see the ghost ball — the invisible target position — on every single shot. This mental overlay technique accelerates accuracy gains faster than any drill.

Pattern Library

Frans maintains a library of 50+ run-out patterns across all disciplines. Students drill these until they become instinctive, then learn to improvise variations under match pressure.

The Silent Safety

Advanced students learn Frans's "silent safety" principle: every shot is simultaneously an attacking move and a defensive set-up. The opponent never gets an easy table.

Disciplines Taught

8-Ball

The most popular format worldwide. Frans teaches positional play, run-out patterns, and the "last-2" safety strategy that separates club players from competitors.

  • Break & cluster control
  • Run-out pattern planning
  • Safety & snooker play
  • Last-ball pressure shots

9-Ball

Fast, attacking, and unforgiving. Frans's 9-Ball curriculum focuses on the break, jump shots, and mastering the push-out rule to gain the tactical edge.

  • Power break technique
  • Combination & carom shots
  • Push-out strategy
  • Speed & spin control

10-Ball

The discipline of precision. Played call-shot, 10-Ball demands accuracy and planning over power. Frans trains cue-ball mastery and tight positional lines.

  • Call-shot discipline
  • Tight positional lines
  • Thin cut shots
  • Rack-to-rack thinking

Straight Pool (14.1)

The chess match of pool. Frans uses Straight Pool as his foundational teaching tool — endless racks reveal every weakness in positioning, pacing, and shot selection.

  • Shot selection hierarchy
  • Key-ball identification
  • Rack break integration
  • Long-run mental game

One-Pocket

The deepest strategic game in pool. Frans's One-Pocket sessions teach defensive creativity, banking, and how to read an opponent's intentions before they execute.

  • Pocket defence & blocking
  • Bank and kick shots
  • Ball-in-hand strategy
  • Endgame calculations

Snooker

Frans bridges the gap between pool and snooker — teaching students to transfer their positional instincts onto the longer table and smaller pockets.

  • Long-potting technique
  • Side-spin (english) control
  • Century break building
  • Rest & spider shot play
